Computer Freezes During LogIn

I've got a HP Pavilion 7920, Windows Me, 900 mhz Celeron Processor, 128 mb SDRAM, 30 gb HD.

During login and usually before the hour glass stops popping on/off, if you move the mouse and attempt to select something, i.e., right click My Computer and attempt to open explore, the darn thing freezes up and not even CTRL/ALT/Delete will help (can not open task manager).

Any thoughts/ideals?????

does this same behavior happen while in safe mode?

 

I haven't tried it but I will. If I wait until all the 'stuff' loads then I usually don't have a problem, just seems when two or more things are attempted at the same time.

 

sounds like you may need to clean out your startup items.
