i have windows xp,sp2.ive used nero for years with no prolems.recently though, when i'm recoding a video with nero(such as mpg or avi to vcd or svcd, etc)after about 1 hour later, sometimes maybe 90minutes.the entire computer freezes.the local network light on my dsl modem even goes out.even the arrow on the sreen disaperirs.imusing nero 7,but over the last few days i've tried nero 6,nero 8,praticaally ever version of nero there is.the problem remains.i'mnot even sure it's software related,i thinkit might be hardware, but that's just a guess.ive made no recent changes tomy computer except for trying all these versions of nero.could someone please help?thanks

Maybe you're having heat issues? How dusty are the insides? Are all your fans working?

Encoding places the maximum amount of stress on your CPU for as you say a solid 90mins,I would try running this program to see if your computer locks up after 90mins if it does it could be a cooling problem as Augie said, also disable screen savers and go into power options in control panel and disable standby.

I have had problems with the latest updated version of NERO 7 when encoding newer media files that causes NERO to stop responding but that is only at the beginning of the encoding process not halfway through.

i ran toast for 90 minutes and my computer didnt freeze at all.however, some of the encoding i do with nero can take up to 3 hours to encode a large video.would it be safe to run toast that long without it hurting my cpu?
