Computer freezing while gaming

My computer keeps freezing and its only while im playing games. It seems it's any of the newer games that do it. I can run Diablo 2 and Starcraft fine but Counter strike source, Prison tycoon 2, sims 2, and Warcraft 3 all freeze at random times. When i run CS:S it says my drivers are outdated even though I have installed the lastest versions. I have Direct X 9.0c too. I meet all the system requirements for the games and i dont think my computers overheating.

My video card is very old but i dont see why it shouldn't work still its a
Nvidia Geforce2 Mx400 running driver version 93.71. If you need any other system specs just ask.

 

Prison tycoon 2, sims 2, and ON A Gf2 mx400 LOL No wonder that card most likely can't keep up thats A VERY OLD CARD and Im surprised that Sims2 even runs at all
and u can forget about C:Ss on that sry man don't mean to be rude but I don't think that card can handle the load
that card Don't support Dx 9.0c just Because U have it installed don't mean you card can use the Dx9 api's (btw That card only supports Dx8.0 I think)
Pss :hmm and war3 should be ok whats the rest of your system specs I have run war 3 with less of a card than what U have
war 3 will run with a Geforce 2 mx100 but very slow and jearky

 

the driver download says it supports
Direct X 9.0c and ive tried running cs:s on dx 7 and it still doesnt work

 

Full specs please and btw that card is hard limited to Dx 7/8 yes the drivers them selfts support Dx9.0c but that card don't

goto start ---- and type dxdiag and look at the display tab and see what the DDI version that your card supports verison (and the Gf2 gpu is Dx 7.1 or 6 I think not sure)
SO if DDI version reads is 7 that means that your Card can only use the Dx 7 api even if U upgrage your drivers Directx ect ect ect ect If it reads DDi version 8 same thing ect ect so on and so on that CARD IS VERY VERY VERY OLD

and NO U can't run C;SS or Hl2 sims2 war3 ect ect on that card it just don't have the Power its like towing a 3 ton bout with a 4 cylinder car Sure it will move it but not very far
and I Wouln't want try running CS:S on anything less than a Geforce 6600gt

 

The DDI version says 9.0 (or higher). If it can't run direct x 9.0 wouldn't it crash at other times too not just while gaming? And the games don't lag badly or anything when im trying to play them they just freeze up while i'm playing.

AMD Athlon 64 3400+
512mb Ram

it could be that the card is getting 2 hot or is damaged some how do u know how to open up your case If u can open it and make sure that all the Fans ans heat sinks are free of Dust ect ect and all the fans are working and btw when did this start ?

 

Well my fan works now but a while back i had to replace the old one because it wasn't spinning fast enough and my computer was shutting off. So i don't think it's overheating and everything looks free of dust. I realized this started in March when I bought CS:S.
