Is there any software that would tell me why my computer is freezing? I tried looking through the Event viewer, but I didnt see anythign to as why its freezing, just that its freezing. When it freezes, my External HD and my mouse that are plugged into the back of the computer loose power, dont know if that would help figure out why I keep freezing

A lot of people may read this post and want to help you out, but you have to help them help you. You can do that by providing a bunch of important information about your computer, the programs you're running, hardware settings, etc. To do this, just follow along and I'll walk you through it.

OK, first I need you to download a program called Speccy from the following page:

    http://majorgeeks.com/Speccy_d6358.html

Install the program and don't change any of the settings. Just leave them at their default settings
Run the program and let it analyze your system (takes less than 30 seconds). When it finishes click FILE >>Save As Text
Save the text file to your desktop.
Go to your desktop and open the text file with notepad (just double click on it). Edit out any personal information including serial numbers, then save it.
If you know how to archive files using the ZIP or RAR format then go ahead and archive the text file. If not, then don't worry about it, just leave the text file as it is.

Then go to http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=86880 to learn how to attach a file to your post.

Post another message in this thread with the aforementioned text file attached.

That will give people here something to work with in diagnosing your problem.

Also, it may seem obvious, but did you check all of the electrical connections that hook your many plugs into numerous sockets under your desk (I'm assuming you have a desktop). Make sure they are all fastened snugly together.

Ok.. Here is the log. I checked all the cables and everything, and everything is plugged in nice and snug. One thing that I should mention is that I usually have 8G of RAM, but I took out 2 sticks to see if it was bad RAM to see if it would freeze up while rotating RAM.

EDIT: Forgot to edit out Serials.. one sec

    Greetings, Bigman1182.

Pardon the intrusion - just a couple of quick observations:

    1. From your report I see that both AVG and MSE are running concurrently - might be a good idea to disable one of those programs in case they're butting heads.

    2. Do you see the same 'freezing' symptoms when the machine is booted into Safe Mode?

Also, be careful when handling those RAM modules. In fact, I'd hold off on troubleshooting the memory unless absolutely necessary (especially now in these static-intense cold weather months).

Be patient: I'm sure rustysavage (and/or others) will provide you some assistance.

I have not tried running in safe mode. I have yet to freeze up when I have just 2 of the sticks of RAM in, So I am thinking that might be the problem. I thought I had MSE disabled :/

Well, then, you might just be on to something. ;) If you've got the time you might consider running some MemTest routines on those modules.

I ran Memtest for about 12 hours yesterday, and they all came back with 0 errors :/

So, are you going to test the other 2 mem sticks?
I think it's worthwhile to put back all 4 sticks and then reboot to Safe Mode. If your problem disappeared, then we could be confident that your problem is NOT caused by physical RAM, and move on from there.

Thanks for posting that Speccy report. So far I haven't caught anything that jumps out as a potential cause of your problem, other than the one Caliban caught pertaining to the simultaneous running 2 real-time scanners.
