If you press Ctrl-Alt-Del once, does it give you any clue as to what program is "not responding"? Are you, by chance, using Norton Crash Guard? What operating system are you usin? Xp, W98SE, Win2000? Bazza

Could it be overheating? Are the Fan / fans working OK? Does it seize after a standard period of time, for example, after the PC has been on for 10 mins, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, etc., or does it happen randomly?

If it is a desktop PC, try taking the outside covers off and run it for the usual amount of time. Does that make any difference? Bazza

Its DEFENATLY not overheateing and fans r working excellent. But it only freezes most when i play games. It doesnt freeze when doing something elso anymore. Do u think because of freezing it could be eMule? (Its a p2p file share network)

Thats outside my sphere of influence. Someone else please step in.

Could it be your graphics card? Can you try another one? Don't forget to load / update the drivers if you decide to try another card. Maybe also check if there is a later driver for your current card. Other than that I cannot suggest anything. Bazza

i agree with Bazza. But could it be your RAM how much of it do you have and is it compatible? Also this happend to my mum's and dad's pc and it turned out that they had spyweare, so i would take a look in that section of the forums to see if it helps. Also is this a recent thing or has it been happening for ages. if it is recent and all elce fails ty to reinstall your OS start afresh and get all of the antispyweare avg etc.

i hope this is use to you reply.....

I dont think it is my graphics card because it is a Nvidia 6600LE and i have the latest forceware version 84.21.

I have 2048 MB ram (2 GIG) and i dont no if its compatible or not but it still works pretty good and it shows up as 2048mb. And it is fairly recent.

Are you running with SpyBot Immunize enabled. It can be a problem sometimes. Turn it off and see if that helps.

    Suggest you Confirm

I feel you should do as suggested and recheck the possible problem re over heating

Now as an experiment take the side cover off your computer and place a room desk cooling fan about 150mm away from the computer and have the cool air blowing on the Motherboard and Graphics Card,

Yes I had a simular problem and now my new computer [with a NX6600 Card] plays all Videos all the way through withot a freeze!! [With the Graphics Card Hardware Acceleration set the maximum setting].

I rechecked the computer and found on further inspection the side cover air tube extension [for the CPU Fan] shroud had closed up. [Looks like rattled/closed its self up during the Road transporting from Sydney to Armidale [550 KMs] I extended same out to the maximum [Giving about 20 to 30mm clearance between its end and the CPU fan unit] fixed the extension out in place with a wrap of installation tape. Replaced the side cover and with same in place and yes the computer played a couple of Videos all the way through.

Afterwards I went out and purchased and fitted a "Mainboard Cooler" [One that you fit in the extra front vacant floppy drive receptacle] It measures 250mm long and after insertion locates its self close low near the motherboard and Graphics Card
This New Fan unit now extracts a good flow of air from the lower section of Motherboard and Graphics Card extracting out through the front of computer.

Now after two months its bliss to be not having a computer problem
