Computer Frozen

I downloaded and installed an updated drover for my Intel processor today from Dell's website. Right away after it installed the mouse and keyboard became non functional. Hoping that it would correct itself when the computer rebooted I pressed the power button and had the computer shut down. Unfortunately when the computer starts I cannot click on my user to log in and run a system restore. I have the restore CD that came with the computer but how can I get the computer to boot from the CD without any mouse of keyboard.
It appear the USB ports are all dead- the optical mouse doesn't light up when plugged in now. Unfortunately the computer does not have a 9 pin port for mouse or keyboard- only USB ports.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Which Dell is that and why did you need an update for the processor?

Try resetting the bios by removing the battery for 1 hour. After replacing it use the front usb sockets for your mouse/keyboard.

 

Yeah... I find it a bit strange that Dell had a processor driver to begin with, let alone an update for it :confused I know that AMD has the Cool-n-Quiet software, but it's more of an optional bit of software than a driver. As far as I know, Intel doesn't have CPU drivers or software other than chipset software, and drivers for on board devices like audio and video, but no processor 'driver'. If you could provide us with the model of the Dell as suggested by studiot, and/or the link to this 'update' that you installed, we can be much more helpful.
