copy and pasted from eventid.net

Source Dhcp Type Error Description Your computer has lost the lease to its IP address <IP address> on the Network Card with network address <MAC address>.

does you trouble last for just 6 minutes and then subside? or does it bluescreen or restart or anything after about 6 minutes?
if you dont mind post more details about the errors in event log.. im not an expert at any of this and need just a lil bit more info to try finding a solution for you...

it sounds like its not your computer thats the problem.. since you did a system restore twice to no avail then i would say its something to do with your internet connection.. how are you connected to the internet?

another question for you.. how is your internet connection setup? do you have a line going from the modem to a router to your computer? or straight to the modem?

reason i ask is because of the error 1003 you mentioned.. i was doing googles and found a microsoft KB article:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/244978

this may possibly part of your problem

also what kind of firewall software are you using? if you have more than one or a third party one and the windows firewall running at the same time that would almost definitely be your problem...

most of the event id errors seem to point to dhcp timeouts.. which mean you have something stopping you from getting info from your nic card to the modem(or to thr router if you have one)... let us know better details of your connections physical layout..

and one last thing to try before i retire for the night is click on start.. go to run.. type cmd and hit enter.. you will be presented with a c:/ command prompt.. there type ping 127.0.0.1.. and post the results.. then type ipconfig/all and post those results as well...

hopefully we can figure something out for you quickly

i have a cable broadband connection, the modem is built into my cable box which is conectted directly to my pc via ethernet cable, hope this helps, after the 7min wait the pc will work ok until i switch off again, i dont get any blue screens or other problems

hmm.. re-enlighten me.. does it completely freeze or does it just get REALLY slow? a good indicator of this is if you can still move the mouse.. if you can its not completely frozen..

if you would run Trend Micro's HiJackThis.. you can get this from: www.download.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html

or if you have used MGTools you should have HJT already... in this case navigate to c:/MGtools/analysethis.exe... this is actually HJT...

double click HJT(analysethis).. click on none of the above, just start the program.. then click on config.. now click on the tab stating misc tools.. from there click on generate startup list..

once this has run and you have a notepad window with the services listed save this to your desktop for ease of access and post it here...

please do not do anything else in HJT.. simply close all windows and be finished with it... misuse of HJT can harm your system files and settings...

the reason i am asking for a startup list is because it may be that your computer just has alot to process when booting up... i have a computer at work that takes an hour until it is usuable because of its combination of slow processor, low memory, hard disk space, and startup items...

if you could post some details about you laptop.. especially the amount ram and hdd.. and the processor speed.. then we will see what we can work up...
