    Hey everyone,

My computer is slowing down pretty badly. Takes a while for everything to start up and then will get weird during the day (sorry that is the only way to describe it). Here is my Belarc link:

    file:///C:/Program%20Files/Belarc/BelarcAdvisor/System/tmp/(Joseph).html

    No bueno.

Also, before attaching a file, make sure there is no serial numbers, product keys, or passwords in it.

What's 'no bueno'? Do you want me to delete the post?

"bueno" is Spanish for "good", and "no" means "no". The link you posted is no good, it doesn't work. It's a dead link. Comprende? ;) Please go to the following page for an explanation of how to attach a file to your post, then post another message in this thread with your file attached.

Then go to the following page and do what it suggests:

Also, here are a few questions:

Do you use antivirus software and if so, which one?
Have you recently scanned your system with antivirus software and if so, have you found any type of malware on your system?
Have you recently installed or uninstalled any software or drivers?
Have you recently installed, uninstalled or replaced any computer hardware?

Sorry no. No bueno is Spanish for "no good". As rustysavage said, it was a bad attachment.

Make sure it doesn't contain any of the things I mentioned before re-attaching.

    Thanks!

Have you tried basic things like looking at what programs are running on start up? Have you checked the disc or any errors and defragmented the disc? Some software can slow your computer down considerably

Earth to InSite, come in, please.

If you're going to solve your computer problems you need to do 2 things. The first is, obviously, come back and respond to questions/suggestions in this thread. The other is to provide some system info, a task most easily accomplished by following these steps:

    http://majorgeeks.com/Speccy_d6358.html

    1. First download a program called Speccy from the above page:
    2. Install the program and don't change any of the settings. Just leave them at their default settings
    3. Run the program and let it analyze your system (takes less than 30 seconds). When it finishes click FILE >>Save As Text
    4. Save the text file to your desktop.
    5. Go to your desktop and open the text file with notepad (just double click on it). Edit out any personal information including serial numbers, then save it.
    6. If you know how to archive files using the ZIP or RAR format then go ahead and archive the text file. If not, then don't worry about it, just leave the text file as it is.
    7. Then go to http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=86880 to learn how to attach a file to your post.
    8. Post another message in this thread with the aforementioned text file attached.

That will give people here something to work with in diagnosing your problem.

haha.. I understand what 'no bueno' means guys. I thought the link worked when I post it, so I was saying "What IS no good?" The link? Something you saw in the report? Remember, I thought the link worked so I thought that person was making a general reply saying there is a big issue. Glad it was just the link.

Rusty, I will hop on that stuff and get it back to you guys. Thank you for responding!!

Ok, I went over to the Malware site and they found nothing.. thankfully. Computer really spike when running Chrome. I have to shut down some programs in the task manager to get it going. Here is the Speccy Report Attached. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Looked at your Speccy report, and you seem to be running many programs for the amount of RAM memory you have. Don't know the model of the PC, but Googling "{your make and model of PC here} specs" should get you the manufacturers page for your PC where you can see if it will hold 2GB or 4GB. This is where I would start. PC is probably getting a little weary with age and replacing the RAM will be necessary sooner or later anyway...

Upping the RAM memory is a huge performance gain. When you have problems, the RAM buys you power to work your way through the problem faster and with fewer crashes. Also, adding the RAM could solve the sluggishness problem by itself. If you can go to 4 GB, I recommend doing so. Based on my experience, it's sort of the magic number...

Thank you very much for your response. We were debating on just upgrading the computers, so this just may answer my question. The speed is really messing with me.

Another quick question though... is there any way to keep those programs from running? I typically have QuickBooks, Excel, and Chrome up. Anything else I really don't need.

    Thank you.

Do you have CCleaner? It has a feature that makes working with startup programs simple, because it eliminates most of the Windows ones from the list. You can use the tool to choose which programs you would like to run on startup and which ones you choose to leave off at that time.

This is a personal preference, so I would suggest you take a look at the list of running processes in Task Manager (with no programs open) and then Google them one by one. It's really empowering from a user standpoint to know what processes should normally appear in the Task Manager list, so I recommend doing this even though it does take around an hour to get all the info. I did this and then created a notepad for reference with some info on each process, so I wouldn't have to Google around if I ran into a problem...

In CCleaner, look for the Tools tab and then select Startup. Right click on any of them to turn off the startup feature of the program...

    Hope this helps.

Cool, thank you for that. It did help a little. I shut down a ton of stupid stuff that I def. knew I didn't need. I only messed with extensions in Google chrome and over obvious programs.

I guess my next step is to just get another computer ha.

Unless someone else has some advice?
