My computer started shutting down and was getting sluggish. I completed the malware removal guide and posted the logs in the malware forum. No malware was found, but they recommended that I post here. Today it is has not shut down, but is still sluggish. Any ideas?

What's the make and model of your computer and what version of Windows are you running (including Service Pack)? It could be software issues or hardware issues. We'll need to do more investgating.

You should look at what processes are set to launch at system start up. Too many can cause slow behaviour.
You can see start ups in CCleaner > Tools > Start Up and in bottom right of that screen you can save them to a text file.
For a more detailed look you can use Autoruns.
If you do not regularly clean the hard drive of unneeded data - Windows accumulates masses of such data - then you should do that with CCleaner > Cleaner in its default settings, or Wise Disk Cleaner in its default settings.
You can also use Windows 7 built in Disk Clean up.
Check what free space you have on your system hard drive, less than 25% free space can cause slowness.

    1. How full is the hard drive? A too full hard drive can cause slowdown problems? A hd needs 15% - 20% free as breathing room.

    2. How much RAM in the computer? Too little RAM will slow down a computer. Right click Computer and select properties. Look at installed and usable RAM.

Post the answers to the above two questions please.

Hopefully they will see that question which is already asked in post #4

Ran CCleaner, and used it to check the startups, cleaned files from the drive and things are running much better. Thanks.

To Plodr's questions, 4gb ram, drive has about 27% free.

If the free space drops much then storing some data on an external drive would be good.
Your system can support up to 8gb of ram and if you ever choose to increase the current 4gb it will speed the system too.

Thanks. The slowdown is not the result of a cramped hard drive or too little RAM.

How many processes (for all users) when you open Task Manager?
What process seems to be using the most CPU? (ignore System Idle if that is high, that's good).

Do you have auto updates turned on? If so, could the computer be downloading updates in the background?
