Ok so in a nutshell, I recently replaced my power supply, the previous power supply was randomly stopping and shutting my pc off. There was no blue screen, not debug, nothing...just turning itself off as if i were holding the power button for 5 seconds. This continued on until it actually blew a capacitor, tripped the circuit breaker to the home, and I was obviously forced to replace it.

I posted in this forum then, before the breakdown, asking what it could be (pretty damn certain ahead of time that it was the power supply) and considering how things turned out I would say that I was right....except the new power supply is doing the same damn thing. If anyone could give me an idea of what could be doing this I would greatly appreciate it. Games it most often crashes on are GW2, Planetside 2, Assassin's Creed 3, and Mass Effect 3. Situations where it most often occurs seem to be simultaneously CPU and GPU intensive at the moments of the crash.

For those who need it my specs are:
    MB- Gigabyte 990xa-ud3
    CPU- AMD FX-8120 3.1 Ghz 8 Core
GPU- nVidia 570GTX 2 Gb (single)
    RAM- 4 Gb Corsair DDR3
HDD- Western Digital 3 TB Sata3
Power Supply- Thermaltake Smart M850W (Modular)

    Peripherals:
Keyboard- Basic Dell (Sad I know)
    Mouse- Cyborg R.A.T.5
    Monitor- Samsung P2450H
    Joystick- Logitech Extreme 3d Pro

I'm getting desperate here, and concerned that I may end up blowing another power supply if I don't solve this problem soon.

If the power supply Is indeed good then there would be another component shorting the motherboard or the board itself possibly. Since the issue is happening the most when games are being played, then it could be gpu card or on board. You can try to reseat all cards, drives and memory sticks inside the system, if that doest work if you have another known good video card try swapping them out and test. Also test the system out in safe mode, I would advise updating your bios, video and processor driver as well just in case. How many minutes into the games does this happen, and when it does happen check the video card to see if it is overheating at all.

Did you clean the dust out of the NVidia's fan?

How would I check to see if the video card is overheating at the time of the crash, I wouldn't know where to look to check the temp monitor for something like that

    Greetings, souredspirit...

You might try GPU-Z - it's a good freebie that shows video card temps.

When these current crashes occur: is the machine shutting down (the same symptoms displayed as with your previous PSU) or is Windows rebooting?

I was shutting down, never a reboot, i just installed new ram though, while i was already that deep in the box i decided to air dust everything and remount the mb, so far no further troubles...thanks again everyone for the help

That could very well have been the solution, especially with those 'shutdown' symptoms - either heat or a short to case could cause sudden shutdowns. Thanks for the feedback.
