Error Messages: very brief blue screen at startup then reboots

    Hi everyone!

    I've got another problem!lol

    ok...

I boot up, get to the xp pro loading screen then that dissapears, the screen goes black for a while then a blue screen comes up then dissapears in a flash and the comp reboots itself!
    This is an intemittent problem.
I think it's got something to do with the mouse/keyboard.
I manage on occasions to get the comp to boot by wiggling the mouse harshly.
Could it be anything to do with the keyboard/mouse check at startup?
I did get an error once at the very first boot screen saying that the mouse wasn't connected at all when it was!
I have managed to go 3 days without this happening and now it's getting worse!
I also tried logging in in safemode and it wouldn't let me! it said .....something "illegal" ??

I have changed the mouse and keyboard (wireless and non-wireless) many times but the problem is intermittant and it works when it wants to!

i have recently formatted (4 days ago) and I have loaded all mobo drivers etc on with no problems. I have also got all window updates inc sp2 and also downloaded MBSA 2.0 (Microsoft Baseline Security Analyser) for those who didn't know! and downloaded all patches for security vunerabilities.

I have kaspersky antivirus installed aswell as spyware guard, spybot s&d, ccleaner, spyware blaster and firefox (all latest versions)

I have scanned for problems with all of these proggies but haven't found any problems whatsoever!

Can anyone suggest what this might be?

Thanks for your time to read this message.

    Peace,

    mallett

if it is your hard drive that is getting louder and louder you may want to back up any important data you have.

it could be that your hard drive is on its way out
