I have a dell dimension 3000 (p4, 512 ram, XP) and my problem is a noisy hard drive I think. When you do a cold start, it loads fine and is quiet. When you start up IE it will load it but there is a loud noise coming from the hard drive. It doesn't really seem to affect anything else.
Any solutions to my problem? Thanks

How do you know it is the hard drive itself, and not something else inside the case, like fan bearings starting to wear?

If you don't start IE for awhile and do other things, does the hd start to make noise?
I'm trying to isolate whether it is a hd problem or an IE problem.
Do you have another browser to try? If not, it might be a good idea to download either Firefox or Opera and try that browser and report what happens.

    DomLuc,
I ran the chkdsk today and now the computer is quiet like it use to be. Many thanks to everyone who helped.:)
