Hey guys, all my computer parts came in today minus the heatsink fan so i decided to start putting everything together. After connecting all the fans /mobo power connectors i turned on the computer to see if everything worked and the LED display on my Mobo for error codes is returning "FF". Called EVGA tech support and they said it is more then likely the BIOS chip, they are shipping me a new one, they also said it could be the processor. Short of putting the processor in another computer is there any way to see if it is working? I installed the processor the correct way (used no force except for the minimal amount required to put down the ZIF bar) and am still using the AMD Heatsink/Fan... any suggestions would be great.

Also, how likely would it be that i got a processor that just doesnt work...

This is more then a little discouraging for a first time builder *sigh*

So you're using an old heatsink and fan...are you sure it is compatible with your new CPU. I would wwait until your new heatsink fan comes and install the new heatsink/fan combo.

F7? Have you set the CD ROM as the 1st boot device and booted to your Windows XP disc (if you're using XP that is...)?

In case you haven't guessed it yet, he has either an onboard diagnostic card, or he is using a PCI one.

    hehehe.... I've done that!!

Do you mean you're using the one that came with the processor?
If so, make sure you took the little tape off the bottom that covers the thermal pad.

I've never done that one, but trust me, it's been done.

If you're getting your error numbers from an onboard diagnostic led, it might help to read the manual and/or post some specs.
