Okay I'm not too good with computers so please help me out.

My Dell Inspiron 530 turns on and shows power, but displays nothing on my monitor. When I try to turn it on the power lights are yellow instead of green, the fan runs, the monitor is perfectly fine but it remains blank with a black background. I have switched the videocard and monitor from my broken computer to my older working computer and it worked fine. I checked all of the plugs to make sure none were loose, but the problem persists. Could the problem be my motherboard or power supply?

Nope, no beeps at all. Only sound is from the fan running, but no response from anything except the power button.

On a Dell this can be a bad stick of RAM. It may have 2 sticks in it. Try running it with just one and see what happens.

Not sure why nobody has mentioned this yet, but the Dell Inspiron 530 has Diagnostic Light Codes.

Since c_Lark_21's light is steady amber, odds are high that the power supply has failed.
