ON memory there is sdram then ddr and etc.okay what about on grafic card which one goes with sdram and which one goes with ddr I have notice that the grafic have the same thing ddr and sdram is it the right thing are they all the same yes or no plese reply

 

everything used to use normal SDRAM, until they made DDR-SDRAM (double data rate).

i'm not sure about the nVidia GeForce1 series, but I know that since the 2 series DDR has been a standard in graphics cards... if that helps.

now, graphics cards are using even more advanced RAM than motherboards use, and giving it other names like "GDDR3" which as far as I know is just normal DDR SDRAM thats been modified to run more efficiently and faster.

 

i loved to answer this ..but i'm lost ....i can give you a clue two things with two diffrent names are most likly not the same .

 

DDR is simply a method of sending "double the data" in one clock.

SDR (single data rate) ram transfers data once per clock cycle, when the clock voltage is going UP. DDR (double data rate) transfers data when the voltage is going up AND down.

Think of the clock cycle as a conductor counting 0, 1 with a baton. SDR will only transfer data when the baton is going up, but DDR transfers data when the baton is going down as well, thus achieving a higher transfer speed. This is why DDR333 is said to run at a frequency of 333MHz, where its bus is only 166MHz.

Both are types of SDRAM. They just work differently. Just as InYearsToCome says.

Nearly all graphics cards these days incorperate DDR ram onboard. It would be a waste of resources not to.
