ok guys i used to be on here alot, but now im back and i need help. my sig should have my computer specs...but here is the problem.

i could be doing stuff and my computer will just randomly restart. sometimes ill be closing my internet browser and it seems as if that triggers it, it also happens when i close stuff like ventrilo or even when i start games like counter-strike. other times it will just restart for no reason at all. i can just be watching tv and my computer will just turnoff and turn back on.

and suggestions about what this can be and how it can be fixed? i know my computer is not over heating because i am not over clocked at all, and my temps look fine.

    thanks guys.

This is unusual. A couple of things first. It would seem most likely a temp. problem, but you say your temps are fine. Do you have a setting in BIOS that cuts power when it hits a certain temp? Are your drivers updated? Running latest BIOS? Are you free of viruses and crapware? See if you can eliminate those first. It is possible a virus may be a cause or you are missing an important system file. Are your GPU temps good? If you can eliminate these, you may be looking at a power supply problem. What PSU are you using and how old is it? What does your graphic card require and have you added any peripherals? A low power PSU with a vid card that is fairly powerful combined with usage of other peripherals can cause power problems. Or it could just be a failing PSU. Hard to say exactly, so see if you can eliminate some of the easy issues first. Run your anti-virus/spyware scanners. Update drivers and BIOS. Double check your temps/fans. Check BIOS settings. Start with the least complicated measures and proceed as such (check fans first, then check BIOS settings....ect.) Couple other things I forgot to mention.....I once saw a failing power strip (surge protector) cause power problems. Switch that out with another to see if that is a problem. Also, it could be the RAM. If you have a combination of a few sticks, try them seperate. If you can isolate a bad stick, that could be it too. Hope this helps.

There have been several threads lately with the same symptoms.
Look back at the hardware threads. When I have time I will post a list.

    Replace your PSU
Your problem is your Crapy PSU
An FYI, DFI has 480w minimum requirement or your MOBO
The one you have only puts out about 1/2 the +12v amps needed to power your MOBO
Another FYI that DFI MOBO also needs a PSU that has a Native 24pin main

On the MOBO, Do you have the extra power conections connected? (besides needing the 24pin native main you need a 12v 4pin connection on the MOBO, a 4 Pin molex & one 4 pin power connection like that of a floppy drive)
These DFI MOBO need Lot's of Good Clean Power

I own, run & OC two DFI Ultra D MOBO's:major
