Hi I am having problems with my computer rebooting itself whenever it wants to.
I have sent an event log attachment to show you wassup.

Also I am having problems with my power settings which dont seem to work.

In power settings I have the monitor set to turn off in 10 min.
Turn off hardisks set to never.
System Standby is set to turn off in 30 min.
System Hibernate is set to turn off in 2 hours.

the only thing that works is that the monitor turns off, standby does not work and niether does the hibernate.

When my monitor screen is off because of power settings I come back and move my mouse and I am looking at the sign in screen to startup windows, or it will be on the desktop. It seems to reboot itself after a certain time I guess. need help!!!!

Hey danimal33, i have similar problems with auto-rebooting, so i check out your thread...
i think my problem is different, though.
I wonder, how do you know standby isn't working if monitor is off? if it's in standby and you want to resume you will see the start-up screen to re- start-up...:confused
i think that's what stand by means as opposed to 'shut down' (turn off, unplug, etc.)
I know stand by and hibernate (i don't know the difference..) doesn't mean the same as total OFF.:)
how about set standby to 10 minutes and monitor to 15, then watch and see what happens??

Maybe a sticky keyboard key: eg, power, windows. Try a different keyboard, or make sure the connection, at the pc, is good.

Also, power supply fault and/or mother board power supply fault.

Try this:right click my computer>properties>advanced>startup and recovery>and uncheck automaticaly restart.Next time when computer want's to reboot,BSOD will come up,and you can see what exactly is the problem.

me personally i would disable hibernation.. it seems everytime i have a computer hibernate it has some kind of trouble waking back up... and i dont know anyone that uses the hibernate feature.. most the slightly technologically inclined people i know suggested the same thing.. to just disable hibernation..

the only thing about what Goran mentioned is that the computer may not be bluescreening.. and if it is often times the bluescreen doesnt offer any details.. causing you to have to go and look at the minidump and the event log and whatnot.. and if the computer isnt bluescreening then none of this info would even be present.. it may be something else like a power cycle to the motherboard when it tries to wake up from hibernation causing the reboot.. this is just theory cuz i dont really know much about how power works through the mother board but it may be that when it goes into hibernation it switches from standard power to a more of backup power or a trickle charge that provides just enough to keep the power button light going so you know the computer is on.. then when you bring it out of hibernation it would have to cycle out of backup/trickle charge to the standard power.. and if it has any trouble at all doing this then the motherboard would lose power shutting off the computer and rebooting when it regains power...

someone who knows more about motherboard power cycles may completely contradict me.. but this just seems logical to me

after looking at the log you provided there seems to be some conflicting services

    i keep seeing these errors:
2008-06-22 00:21 Service Control Manager Error None 7026 N/A DANIMAL The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
    ftsata2
2008-06-22 00:21 Service Control Manager Error None 7023 N/A DANIMAL The IPSEC Services service terminated with the following error:
    The authentication service is unknown.
2008-06-22 00:21 Service Control Manager Error None 7000 N/A DANIMAL The MCSTRM service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
2008-06-22 00:21 Service Control Manager Error None 7000 N/A DANIMAL The Nsynas32 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

correct me if im wrong but ftsata sounds like the drivers for a sata harddrive.. may need to look into gettin those updated.. maybe boot to safe mode and try it...
the IPSEC service that keeps failing can be restarted by hiting windowskey+r and typing services.msc.. then find the IPSEC service and right click on it.. click properties and click the button that says start.. make sure the little drop down menu is set to either automatic or manual.. i think IPSEC requires automatic to run properly..

may want to check and see if MCSTRM is in your c:/windows/system32/drivers folder.. it should be labeled MCSTRM.sys and may be a hidden file..it is supposed to run from here but if its not there then you may need to replace it.. or if its trying to run from another location you may have malware of somekind..

Nsynas32 seems to be a driver for a audio software and is required for it to work.. have you had any trouble out of your sound? a quick google search labled Nsynas32 as being in the c:/windows/system32/drivers folder and having a file size of either 17784 bytes (83% of all occurrence) or 18928 bytes... if it is anything other may want to run malware checks(with updated signatures of course)..

before you ask.. and you may already know this.. but to view hidden files open a folder window or explorer.. click on tools.. folder options.. view tab.. then uncheck hide protected operating system files and click the show hidden file and folders radio button... the click apply and ok..

if you do need to replace MCSTRM you can either extract it from the command line or use the windows cd to do a repair.. let us know if you need to do a repair but i have no knowledge of how to extract files.. i may be able to stumble through it.. but without having it right infront of me to see what im talking about im helpless here...

let us know if any of this helps.. or if you or anyone else have better ideas.. cuz mine may suck.. lets hear them.. xD

(sorry if this posts twice.. firewall at work kicked in and made me start a new session)

Things seem to be working really good now. The computer rebooting problem that I have is that my computer is overheating I believe. I use this comp in my recording studio but when I mixdown a track I have done or render a video down into a file or even play a cd or dvd it will reboot on me. That seems to happen when my computer monitor turns itself off after 10 minutes when the screen shuts down the reboot happens. When I am creating big files like that now I turn off the monitor setting and seems ok and will completley render my tracks into files. There are some power issues there.
As for the Service Control Manager Errors I haven't gotten those errors in some time now I use all my scanners every week with full system scans and everything seems clean. Not seeing those errors anymore.

hmm.. ok well try to make sure there is about 6 inches between all sides of your computer and its surroundings.. dont put it in a closed area.. even if the closed area provides 6 in area around the computer... make sure your fans are working right.. may want to open the computer up and dust it(while it is turned off that is).. use a fine hair brush and a vacuum to get the dust of of the ram ships.. and even put the vacuum up to the powersupply as the fan on it is probably pretty nasty... if none of this helps may want to look into getting either a better fan for your cpu.. or just another fan.. or switching to liquid cooling... its more expensive.. but will definitely make a change in how hot your cpu gets...

just some thought though.. glad to hear you did get it to work and that the erors arent giving you as much of a headache anymore..

let us know if anything else starts actin up..

    enjoy your music.. xD
