    My Dell pc restarted unexpectedly.

I ran a memory check (Dell utility) and all tests passed.

I ran a Dell utility disk check and the test stopped reporting an error: 0F00:0232. This indicates a disk error.

I ran chkdsk /r, the check completed quickly an no errors reported. The machine re-started.

Since chkdsk did not repair the error (it did not find one, or something failed) I do not know how to repair the disk error.

    Advice please.

I enclose a zipped CBS logfile, made today

Thank you for viewing the file.

I don't think I have a BSOD file in Minidump, just a couple of mini...dmp files

Out of interest. is the SeaTools file you mention likely to be a better option than running chkdsk/r for detecting/repairing disk problems. I will look at the link.

    Best wishes.

    I have just installed SeaTools.

I note that the following programme was also installed. Do you know what this programme does and why it was installed:

    Microsoft C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86) 11.0.51106

    Thanks

It just means that the most recent Seatools build was compiled using the 2012 version of Microsoft's C Runtime library, so for the program to run they've opted to include the 2012 Redistributable with the installation.
If you have a look in your system32 directory, you'll find files such as msvcr110.dll and msvcp110.dll have been installed.

The mini*.dmp files are actually the files I was referring to. So if you have some recent ones then zip and attach.

I have not noticed a C++ Redistributable programme installed before when installing a program. It is listed in Programs and Features. I assume that it should not be uninstalled.

I have no new dmp files. But I have installed BlueScreenView for the MG site. I should be able to read the dmp files using this programme.

I attached a CBS file previously. I note that you are referring to dmp files. I'll have a look at them using BSV and then post

I have not experimented with either programme as yet.

    Best wishes.

Just experimenting for the first time with BlueScreen Viewer

It looks like the last crash was caused by: ntknlpa.exe.
The crash last month appears to have been caused by: hal.dll.

Is the idea to locate these drivers on the Net and copy them into place on the disk?

I found the blue screen view most easily understood. Under 'All drivers', I can't understand the significance of all the Filenames.

The help is a separate file and has to be started from the installation folder, but it does not address all the filenames.

I will look at the website - making some progress.

    No further crashes.

    Best wishes

Ps. I am enclosing the four text files. I have no other Minidumps
