Computer restating on and off HELP PLZ

when i switched my computer on it is a 1/4 through starting and it said
we apologise for the inconvenience etc

safe mode
safemode with networking and the others but my keybord turns it self off so i cant choose wich one when at that page it does not work but on a diffrent page it works

I have restared but when the timer finshes it loads and restarts again

Hi,

Are you using a USB or PS/2 (round type connector) keyboard? If you are using USB see if you can find an old PS/2 keyboard and try that. You have to have the keyboard connected before powering on.

Then when given Safe Mode options try Last Known Good Configuration, first, before any other option as it is the most useful but only really works once.

 

the keybord works now but when i go to last good know etc it restarts again :confused wilst loading

 

Did you have to switch keyboards or did your normal keyboard start working?

Which OS are you running? Do you have an installation CD?

What do you see on screen after you make your safe mode etc. choice? Any activity at all or immediately restarts?

 

i switched keyboards and the operating system is xp i dont have the installation disc i see the windows xp sign and the blue things moving and then it restarts

 

Try the option on the safe mode page for Disable Restart on Error. See if it gives you an error code or mentions a file on a blue screen.

 

where is safe mode page for Disable Restart

 

It should be on the same page with the other choices like Last Known Good and Safe Mode with Networking.

If you aren't getting to that page then try F8 at startup to see if you can get those options.

 

Re: help plz small difficult problem

Try choosing just safemode-so that minimum drivers are loaded- not last good, and see if it boots o.k
If it does it could be a driver issue, or, an update issue.
If this started today/yesterday, and you can get into safemode,
CLICK START
CLICK ALL PROGRAMS
CLICK ACCESSARIES
CLICK SYSTEM RESTORE,AND CHOOSE A DATE THAT IS HIGHLIGHTED, AND CLICK RESTORE MY COMPUTER.
