Computer running very slow

Hi

By running slowly could you give us a senario of whats happening as it could be a multitude of things as mentioned above.

Has this just started, if so have you installed any new software, if so what?

If you boot into safe mode ( F8 at boot time and choose Safe Mode with Networking ) is your PC still slow?

What security applciations do you have installed, as common cause for slow PC, can be that you have two antivirus applications installed, so do please name all the security applications you have?

Is the slowness general as in once the PC is booted even moving the mouse is slow or is it only when you click to open an application?

Have you run any antivirus scans to see if you indeed have malware? if malware found then did it have a name, do you get any popups or random seach engine pages that are not the ones you use.

What is your remaining hard drive space? to do this doble click My Computer > then right click your C: drive and choose Properties, that is free space total?

 

Have you installed SP3? Have you installed a newer version of software (like replacing AVG 7.5 with 8)? Think about the recent changes and one of those might be causing the slowdown.
