Computer Runs Ok Then I Turn It Off

computer runs ok then i turn it off
then i turn it back on and it wont start
then i remove hardrive and it will turn on
then i put hardrive back in and it usually starts i guess
is it a bad power supply?
dust in it?

Make, model, OS. How old is the machine? How many hours are on it? Pause, and assess.

 

its a lenovo tower desktop, windows 10 from 2010 i think
it came with win 7 back then as theres a win 7 sticker on it

then the sound wouldnt turn off or down so i deleted the sound thing in device manager then rebooted then it was ok

but now it wont start again
maybe its the main board

 

Hard to understand clearly what is happening and what you mean, by that I mean when you try to start / restart the tower and you say

What do you mean exactly? nothing happens at all ie the pc has no power at all, or that the pc starts up fine but that windows does not boot?

 

if you manage to get it turned on go straight in to bios and check your CPU temp it could be running hot sometimes which prevents the computer from turning on until it has cooled down.

 

i gave up on the thing but i guess a few more posts to figure it out may be fun

 

it would run as normal but one in 30 times or so it would do nothing ,yet i could hear click sounds in speakers click click click

then id remove or unplug harddrive and it would boot up then id reconnect hardrive and it would run for 20 plus times

very annoying
