Computer runs very slow with EBAY-not others..HELP

I have a Dell computer. Here is what my system info says:

Celeron (R) CPU 2.66 GHZ
2.66 GHZ, 512 MB of RAM

Microsoft Windowns XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

Symantac Antivirus

I just had my hard drive replaced a month ago. I am doing alot of business and research on EBAY. When ever I am on this site, it runs like sludge. I can go to other sites and they seem to run pretty smoothly. I have gone to other computers and EBAY runs pretty quick. These computers have the same internet service as i do.

Every so often I get that little box that pops up and says: Virtual Memory is running low...and then something about Windows acquiring info to help this....what does this mean?

On the other computers I work on, wheneven I am going to diff. sites, there is the little hr glass at the bottom that tells you your site is still loading. However since I have had this new hard drive replaced there is no hour glass so i have to guess at when the screen is done downloading. Sometimes this is a real plan because it looks as though the site has downloaded, however when I used the scroll down bar on the right, it won't move anything.

Are these problems all related? HELP ! I cannot run my business when it is this slow.

 

a) 512 MB is not enough RAM to run windows XP well; you should up this to 1GB or more
b) XP should be at SP3 not SP2, otherwise you are looking at possible security holes that need patching
c) Symantec Antivirus is one of those programs that might cause a performance hit. You may want to investigate another av that doesn't slow down your computer as much.
