Computer shuts down!

So I'm currently suffering from a disease in my computer. Everytime I try out a slither more demanding game (like Dead Island Riptide nowadays) the computer shuts down after a couple of minutes. It doesn't restart if I don't un-plug the powerplug but after that it does. I have monitored the temperatus on both my cpu and gpu and they both seems to be all right. Is there a way I'm not aware of or is my PSU going bad ? Is there a way to test it and how should it be placed in my case ? Thanks!

 

It could not be that the PSU is bad it could be just that the PSU can not support the power out put needed for the games.

Do you know how many watts are on the PSU.Have you made any new kinda upgrades lately like ram or video card.

 

I have a 630 watt AXP power-supply and a 6990 Radeon HD GPU. I sincerely believe the PSU can support the whole set.

 

630 watt should be able to support the whole set with out issue.Have you tested your system for temp issues.Radeons tend to send out lots of heat while gaming.If there is a temp setting on your bios it will automatically shut it off if the desktop or laptop gets too hot.

When was the last time this desktop or laptop was cleaned on the inside.Are you all so sure you are not overclocking your 6990 Radeon HD video card that all so could be a major issue as well.

 

I monitored temps on another screen while playing and they won't rise above 45c at full load so no luck there. And the radeon is still stock. I'm beginning to believe that my PSU is faulty to begin with. Plus the fan of the PSU is facing directly to the bigger fan from the CPU so it might not have the optimal coolage to the psu.

 

You can try to replace the PSU and see if that works.
