computer startup, lights are on but no-one is home

hello, i just reformated my computer then as i was re installing windows when i would turn it on but no but screen or anything would come on then suddenly it worked after about ten shots. i intalled windows and then did some things then shut it down. when i tryed to boot it back up again same thing nothing apearing on the screen or anything...what is the problem and how can i fix it, thanx, max

 

have you made any recent hardware changes? Make sure everything is seated vid card, ram. Is the cpu fan spinning, any hard drive activity?

 

Can you see the BIOS come up? If not, check your RAM. If you added some, remove the new modules and see what happens.

Do you hear any beeps? That can indicate a specific error if you know how many times it beeps. Also, when the dcreen will not come on, does it sound like the computer is on? Meaning are is the HD spinning?

Again, make sure everything is secure.

 

I agree with the reply above. I had similar issues and had to re-seat my graphics card as my PC was on but not starting up nor was the monitor working.
