Computer stopped recognizing router

I have a Compaq laptop with Windows Vista. Yesterday, my computer suddenly had no internet connection. I have an older Linksys wireless router. The other computer in my home is connected and working fine. When I tried to find a network, it said "windows cannot find any networks" or something along those lines. I tried resetting the router and modem, to no avail. I also tried creating a network, but my network wizard does not have the Linksys model number for my router listed, so I clicked on "other" and it told me "windows does not support this router." Last night, though, my computer suddenly connected to the internet. When I woke up this morning, it stopped recognizing my router again and I am having the same issues as stated above (resetting router/modem does not help, the network wizard will not recognize my router by its model number, etc.) Any ideas as to why this is happening or how to fix it?

 

Hello. I'm not 100% sure what is going on, but I can give you a suggestion.
This happens to me sometimes.. Make sure that your Wi-Fi is enabled on your laptop.
You will either have a button that looks like a wifi antenna you simply touch or a button where you press the fn button on keyboard then a f1 or f2 or f3 (whichever one has a picture of the wifi network). If your other computer can connect wirelessly, I don't think there is a problem with your router, just your laptop.

 

Thanks for your reply. The problem has since been fixed, however I am not entirely sure what the problem was. It seems my LAN was disabled somehow and I had to enable it again. Don't know how it became disabled... it's all a mystery to me! But thanks for your response anyway....
