A few of my own :-o
1. I was trying to boot up from a Knoppix CD, but for some reason it wasn't working. I eventually found out I was actually booting from a Tom Petty CD.

2. In school, the monitor kept going into power-save mode. I checked the cables and stuff to see if it was plugged in before realizing the computer wasn't turned on.

3. In VirtualDub, I forgot to set compression settings and got a 15-gig file for a 10-minute, non-high definition video.

4. I once put in a CD upside down. Obviously it didn't work.

And THIS IS THE BEST ONE:

5. When I was about 8, I accidentally wiped the drive on me and mom's old Aptiva IBM by popping in the recovery disc just to see what would happen.

 

Did #5 and still with us? How long before you were able to sit down?

 

Just got a power supply from Lenovo for a FRU - put it and the systems wouldn't boot. So I was thinking the power supply that blew out took the mobo too!! Put the power supply in a working system, wouldn't power up. Moment of duh, Lenovo is "foreign" so the power supply was switched 230 not 110.

 

I was doing some work on an X-Ray workstation. I'd started off my bootable drive and was ghosting a new image to it. Everything was going fine, it picked up a hard disk and was loading the image. Then I realised Ghost hadn't picked up the internal hard disks (SCSI RAID5 volume) but had picked up the visiting engineers 120GB USB drive and was happily installing Windows onto it!
