Computer switching off

    My computer is intermittently switching off. No fans, no lights, no video. The only indication that this has happened is the power light still shows green.
    Reset doesn't work I have to hold the power button in for 10 secs to switch it completely of then power up again.

    Is this an overheating issue or duff PSU,
    any thoughts?

    Hi

    I agree with the above in that check your PCs temps as random shutdowns without a BSOD (bluescreen error) is likely to be a temp issue, so what are your PCs temps.

    Also what type of PC is this laptop or desktop, what is its location, if desktop is it inside a desk space or if laptop is it being placed on lap/carpet etc as airflow can be restricted causing a shutdown.

    If desktop is the inside of the PC clean and free from dust, especially the CPU heatsink and fan? are all the fan grills clean and free from dust, be this desktop or laptop?

    It's a desk top; and I've just noticed it sits next to the central heating pipes. Looking very temp related.
    I'll down load Si Soft Sandra and check things out, thanks for replies :)
