Hi. I am trying to use my computer phone and I am having trouble with the person on the other end of the phone hearing what I am saying. I can hear the person great but they can't hear me. I have checked my volume control options and made sure that nothing was muted. I have had this problem since I purchased my computer on Ebay. Is there an easy fix for this problem or will I need a different motherboard in order for the sound to work correctly. Thanks. Matthew.

Matthew, it maybe a good idea to list the hardware/software involved, this way we maybe able to get you sorted, also what steps have you taken already to fix this?

    Some questions...

Windows Version and is it fully upto date?

Computer make is it a OEM Pre-build or a Hand Built one?
If OEM.. then what make and model ( ie. Compaq R4065ea )
If Hand Built, what is the motherboard make and model ( ie. Gigabyte 8IHXP )

from those we can check your sound drivers....

What is the make of phone you are using, is it a VOIP phone or headset and microphone.. again make and model numbers?

Halo, I am guessing possibly some type of VoIP such as Skype, and would probably be a settings issue, (UTTC) issue more then a hardware or software issue.

Hi. I think this is what you are asking. Please let me know if you need any other info and if you do please let me know where to go in my computer to find the info. I have a Windows Pro XP (fully up to date), No brand name computer (I purchased on Ebay 2 years ago), SP2, Intel Pentium 4, 2.40GHz, 512 RAM, NVidia RIVA TNT2 Model 64, C-Media Wave Device Sound Control, SCIS and RAID controllers. I am not sure where to find the motherboard specs. Can you help me find that? I am currently using Skype but I have had the same problem in the past using Yahoo Phone. Thanks for you help.

I would install the C-Media AC97 driver from here http://www.asrock.com/support/download.asp?Model=P4S55FX+

to see if that changes the sound, quality.

*your link above is dead... links to page but no info*

What hardware are you using to talk&listen with... an actual VOIP phone or headset? ( again model makes etc )

Do you know the mic is actually working ok.. test on another PC or if no other in house see if nice friend will test?

aslo check all of these settings http://www.skype.com/help/guides/soundsetup_win2k.html

    plus from Skype help
and are you using latest version of Skype? ( 2.5.0.122 is latest build version )
