I haven"t been keeping my computer up to date with everything, and I was wondering what I should do to get it tuned up to more of its original speed.
i.e. like defragmenting, spyware, drivers and that kind of thing.

    Thanks

I generally get rid of everything Ad-Aware finds, then clean all the crap using the diskcleanup option in system tools, then de-frag. Weekly, about. Works for me.

I have Spyware Blaster running in the background. Updating every couple of weeks.

Pewty correct me if i'm wrong but Spyware Blaster doesnt' run as a background process (at least not the free version which i use)...

XzeroX, i would recommend running the following (free) programs

Spybot Search & Destroy (spyware scanner)
    Lavasoft Adware SE (spyware scanner)
    Spyware Blaster (spyware blocker)
Webroot SpySweeper (in depth spyware scanner, 1 month trial version but good to run to get rid of anything the other 2 miss)
CCleaner (cleans up temporary files, caches, cookies, things of that nature, frees up HD space)

and if you don't already have a good firewall or anti-virus... may i recommend:

    Avast or AVG (for anti-virus)
Zone Alarm or Sygate Personal Firewall (for firewall)

all of these programs are hosted right here at Majorgeeks to download.... the top 5 can be found in the spyware section, the AV programs under anti-virus, and the firewalls under Firewall... (sorry i was too lazy to link you)

    hope that helps..

Yeah, bad choice of words. What I meant was that I'm using spyware blaster to help prevent the installation of spyware so Ad-Aware doesn't have too much to do when I run it.

"SpywareBlaster can help keep your system spyware-free and secure, without interfering with the "good side" of the web. And unlike other programs, SpywareBlaster does not have to remain running in the background"

    How does it do that?

It takes the hard work of adding those site to the IE/FF .. Privacy > Blocked sites list.

and to a registry location that escapes me for now.
