My computer has recently been running really hot. Its an Intel 550 3.4 GHz processer, and Intel's Desktop Control Center says its running 80 degrees Celsius most of the time, even when idle. My CPU fan is always running at max speed, and when I open the case, it doesn't seem to be blowing very hot air out. Is this a problem with the temp sensor? It moves up and down, so it wouldn't seem to be messed up, but I don't know. Even when I open the case up to let it air out, it only drops two or three degrees. I'm a bit concerned. Also, I have two case fans in the back blowing air out and a case fan on the side blowing in. Should I switch any of these?

    Thanks,
    ~corndog

PS, tried CPU eat 'n' cool, didn't seem to cool at all...so maybe it is a malfunction of the temp sensor...

I'd not worry, if it was running at 80*C all the time you'd have noticed when you opened the case.
It seems to me that the temperature sensor is malfunctioning.

Here's a screenshot...The thing is, it goes up and down, so I'm not sure if its malfunctioning or not.... like it goes from around 69 to 86...could the sensor be confusing celsius for fahrenheit? no clues...

Okay, after checking out my fan configuration, I found that all three case fans are blowing out of the case. Should I have at least one fan blowing air in? I would assume I would want to turn around the fan on the side panel. Any help on this?

it's just like you said, turn the fan around, on the side there's an arrow, make sure it points into the case, that's all :)

im not the newest guy in the group, but im pretty sure you should have atleast 2 blowing in...make sure you place the one blowing out in the rear though.

ideally he'd have 2 blowing in, 2 blowing out, creating an airduct :)
