Computer will not boot

    I'm running Windows XP on a Compaq V5000, on restart the computer will freeze up on the "Windows XP" screen with the blue dots going back and forth under the "Windows XP" logo. If I start the laptop in the safe mode everything works fine. Help, what could cause the problem and how do I fix it?

    Do you have an XP or later CD/DVD??

    Do you know how to set your CD/DVD Drive as the boot drive?

    I have cd for XP home edition. Have full version loaded on laptop. Cd's are at work. No to the default question. Thanks for the help.

    Yur right ay ... ok we'll need the CD from your work to work on it properly ... so if you get that tomorrow or something I can help you out ...
