computer will not load after welcome sign

hi everyone, i'm having trouble with my computer. i'm currently using safe mode because my computer will not load after the welcome sign in regular mode, the screen is completely blank. I took out the battery and replaced it and restarted, but this did not work. i was cleaning the computer before this all happened and i'm wondering if i accidently pressed something i wasn't supposed to. please help thanks :confused

 

Try at the safe mode options (F8 at startup) Last Known Good Configuration rather than safe mode.

Does that get you into normal mode? If not go back into safe mode and try to do a System Restore. Which Operating System are you running--XP?
