Alright so my computer that I have not used in roughly 3-4 months I have decided to try and use and I plugged it all up and I go to start it up I hit the power on button and it goes on for a second then shuts off but then I hit the button again and the computer goes on but I do not hear the "Doot" sound when it starts up and nothing shows on the monitor but my cpu fan along with my other fans go my video card fan goes on. I also have tried plugging my monitor into my on board graphics as well as my radeon 2600. Please help me figure out what the problem is, Thank you!

    Greetings, ScreamingEagles...

You might try reseating everything (power connectors, IDE cables, RAM sticks, etc.) and cleaning any dust out of the machine...

Try unplugging/removing non-essential hardware, process of elimination...

Post the hardware specs, such as motherboard/processor type, amount of RAM, type of hard drive, graphics and sound boards, etc...

    By the way: 101st?

First thing to try is a cmos reset, find the small coin shaped battery on the motherboard and remove it for 10 secs with the power disconnected then replace and try to boot.

If that doesn't work I agree with Caliban remove everything, leave just the cpu, memory "one known working stick if you can" and the video card and try to boot.

Alright first I have to say Kudos to you both Caliban and Rikky. You both were very helpful; the battery reset worked I took it out as directed for 10seconds put it back in and turned my computer on and it started right up.

I honestly appreciate all the politeness and quick help on fixing my desktop computer, and once again thank you both!
