Hi! I'm trying to help a friend whose computer won't boot. He gets the message "Setup was unable to update the MSI system component."

Unfortunately, he does not have a boot disk :(

He said he was cleaning up his computer & may have deleted a necessary Windows file.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Thx,
    Gini

get a boot disk..... or did he buy this computer from hp or some manufacturer like that? he might be able to contact them to get a restore disk.... or they usually come with some kind of restore disk.... he'll probably lose everything but it would work.... the data might be able to be saved before he does the restore...... or can he do a system restore at all using windows?

Can he get into the BIOS or does it stop it booting completely, if he presses F8 on the startup screen it should beep and take him into a boot up screen which gives you the opportunity to restore the best settings when the computer functioned ok.

maybe he has a virus, im no expert but that has worked for me several times
