I'm using Win XP Pro. The screen froze. I turned it off with the power button and now it won't reboot. I'm stuck at the blue screen where it gives you a choice for Esc=Boot Meni, F1=Setup, or F10=System Recovery.

I tried hitting Esc several times to get to the boot menu but no luck. I unplugged it a few times, once for 30 minutes, but it still won't let me in. I tried hitting F10 while it turned back on too but no luck getting there either.

I have the system backed up with Acronis but it won't give me a boot menu to boot from a CD.

Anyone have any tricks up your sleeve?

The first thing I would do is start disconnecting optical and hard drives to see if the detecting of those drives is causing the bios to lock up.

Secondly, try re-seating or replacing the RAM. Bad RAM can keep your computer from booting.

Thank you. This makes sense because I recently added 2 1-GB of RAM and my husband disabled the RAID drive by taking out the RAID circuit board.

It think it was a USB port in the front of the computer (desktop) that had a USB expander plugged into it. I unplugged it last week and put it in a USB port in the back and haven't had any problems since.

Just wanted to let you know you solved my problem. Thank you.
