Computer won't turn on.

I know this is a pretty general subject but that's where I'm at right now. I have had my computer off for a few weeks and just hit the power button with no response. PSU rocker switch is in "on" position and there is no visible trip indicator for any kind of breaker built in. Only visible things are the voltage selector switch (currently @ 115V, I'm in the US) and the on/off rocker switch.

I opened the side of the case thinking maybe the connector for the switch came loose (tower sits on the ground near a closet door, I thought it might be possible that it got hit somehow) but the connector is still firmly seated on the pins it's supposed to be (motherboard has a printed position map for that area).

I guess the switch could be out and maybe that needs to be replaced, but the feel and sound it has when I press it is as it has been for several years. Note that this computer was purchased in the summer of 2002. The only recent thing that I've done to it was replace a fan and replace the video card, but this was done about 9 months ago and, up until a few weeks ago, the computer was on quite a bit and had no issues.

I figure the experts here might have a suggested list I should run through to try to determine the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your going to have to eliminate possible causes. Start with testing your PSU, you can easiliy do this by following the video.

I will work on checking it this way. Right now NOTHING happens when I turn on the power. I'm thinking it's either the PSU or the switch. Hoping the switch, preparing for it to be the PSU.

This may sound a little obvious, but have you tested the power lead/fuse and also the wall socket?

Does your MB have a power LED on the actual board?
