Computers Not Showing On Network

I have had a problem with my network for quite some time. I have searched the internet and asked several IT and no one has a solution. I don't know if it is hardware or software issue.

I have a I-7 laptop and I-7 desktop running on my network. Both are running Windows 10 Pro. I also have a Buffalo NAS on the network. My router is a AT&T Arris DSL NVG589.

When I click on the Network Icon, only one computer will show all machines. The other machine may show itself or maybe not. I can reboot the machine that shows all the machines and the other machine will now see all on the network.

I have mapped drives on both machines and this quirk doesn't affect the mapped drives.

This problem is more annoying than critical, but I would like to be able to see the complete network on both machines.

From your description of the problems it's probably safe to assume that it's a WiFi network rather than Ethernet, though the one that always shows everything might well be Ethernet connected. If you haven't done so already I suggest you assign fixed IPs to all three. If that doesn't rectify the situation come back with as much info as possible. You assign fixed IPs in the router settings.

 

Nope, it is a wired ethernet on these components. I do have wifi, but I don't care to be bogged down with it. I will try fixed IP's on the three machines and see what happens.
