Compy freezing please help!

Hey I just recently upgraded m whole compy. The one problem is whenever i play dvd's or play games such as warcraft my computer freezes.

Here are my specs.

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1 GB of RAM
ASUS A8V Motherboard
Onboard sound
NVidia GEFORCE MX 4000
40 gb hd
and CDRW,DVDRW,DVDROM,CDROM Combo.
Running Windows XP Home

What can be wrong?

The video card?

Power supply?
Both?

please help. cuz i hate wastying my money on warcraft if i cant play.

If it the vid card can you suggest a good 1?

 

Have you been to Nvidia's site for the drivers or did you install the one's off the disk? Also have you got the up to date version of Directx 9?

 

If you have installed the drivers for the MX4000 off the disk try downloading and installing the latest drivers @ http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.98.html

Use the US English version. About 20Mb.

In the past i had a problem with the MX440 64MB video card and the latest drivers solved the problem.

 

i believe i dled these drivers yesterday. still no luck. any other options?
i know i have way over the specs i need to run this game.

 

yes i put the new drivers in it still freezing. anything else???????

 

What version of DirectX are you running, and have you tried the diagnostic tool (Start, Run and type in dxdiag)?

I would also try updating your motherboard/chipset drivers.


BTW neomer, we have the nVidia drivers HERE, no need to send people elsewhere.
