Conditional Format in Excel

Is there a way for a conditional format to work when different cells meet a criteria? I want to make the cross point of a table highlight when the X and Y headers equal entered values.

My headers run from B1 to H1 and A2 down to A10. (A1 blank). When lets say A5 equals one of my entered values and H1 equals another entered value, I want the cross point (H5) to highlight. I have the spreadsheet formated so that my headers highlight but the value within the table is not.

 

I don't know of a way to make a conditional CELL format do that, but ....

My first inclination would be to make a macro to scan the table and highlight the cells in the table that are offset from the header row and column that meet the criteria (because I just happen to love macros, and that would be easiest to do.)

Or, you maybe could create a nested "If" formula in the cross-point cell that can make the text a certain color if the criteria are met in the corresponding input row and column.

Can you provide a little information about how your table is set up?
Do the cells in the table have formulas that sum or get other information from the header row and header column? or are you just wanting them to light up yellow if either or both the header column and row light up yellow. (I picked yellow out of the air.)

Tell me more about your spreadsheet, I know this can be done one way or another
