Conexant Driver --> Computer Won't Start

So, as the title says, I tried installing a driver update for my dial up modem but before it even tried to even update the driver, my computer shutdown. I downloaded the driver update directly from Conexant as a zip file.

But it wasn't like an instant shutdown, but like rather a Restart shutdown where everything you have open is closed and then Windows shuts down. Now I can't start my computer up. At most, I can get past the part where it's loading everything up (The BIOS screen, I guess) but then it shuts down. And then the only way to even start the computer up is to unplug the power cord and put it back in.

I've taken my modem out to see if it helps but nothing. =/ Am I SoL? Can't really afford to take my computer to a repairman.

 

Update: I just went back to try turning it on again, and it did like nothing happened. I tried before, turning it on and such, at least 3 or 4 times but I let it sit for about 10 minutes this last time. Is there something I should take a look at?

 

What type of machine?
Sometimes it takes a reboot and a few minutes for things to get settled in.
