I saw on the morning show about a conficker eye chart. Does anyone know a safe one to look at. They say u can look at it and tell if ur computer might be infected. All help is appreciated.

    Hi

This link http://www.confickerworkinggroup.org/infection_test/cfeyechart.html and all the top boxes should look like this and your deemed as ok, but still would keep your antivirus applications upto date as well as Windows, if your windows is upto date then last October Microsoft did issue an update to curb this http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS08-067.mspx

    Hi

Yes CCleaner and its quite safe one too, but registry cleaning is not always advisable, depends on the reason your wanting to clean the registry.

thanks. Well, the registry mechanic that came with my pctools antivirus program said i had like over 300 that needed immediate attention, it repaired or whatevr a few but then said i needed to purchase to finish it. Is that one safe to trust what it says? I don't want to screw anything up on my computer, (poor person hard to take to repair store).

Yes its very safe on as it is not as aggressive as many registry cleaners, its also one I have used for years in cleaning up PCs and it does offer you the option of backing up what it deletes. Also when running the registry cleaner, it will find many things, but once cleaned run the tool again as it will then find the orphaned links to the ones just deleted, then run again until nothing shows.

I hardly ever use a registry cleaner unless I'm having problems with remnants after an uninstall and a consequent reinstall of same said software keeps finding info that I don't want it to see. I don't try too many betas these days so it's pretty clean. Otherwise I don't care too much.

Totally agree. Folks can get into way more trouble removing things from the registry that they shouldn't.

thanks, are intel graphics controller and Realtek RTL 8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC BIOS. did a driver scan from this site and it said those need updated. Can I do that free? I think that realtek is my supply to my msn explorer and msnlivemessenger and why they won't work.

You can find the drivers on the manufacturer's website. A quick google should bring it up for you. I'd only go with the manufacturer's sites, other ones might be dodgy.
