Hi All, I am a new user signed up this morning. I have been studying online reading articles on wireless networking and its accessories and devices. I got a little bit confused when I got to installing antennas (indoor or outdoor antennas) on APs.

My question now is: How can I install and configure an antenna on an Access Point (AP) increase my signal coverage? For instance, installing omnidirectional or semi-directional antennas on an Access Point.

Please, don’t laugh this maybe funny. How is the external antenna Access Point look like? Does it look like linksys wireless routers? I understood the dbi, gains and other wireless networking terminologies. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanx in advance

You unplug the current Antenna, and you plug the New one.

    That is it.

    Thanks CAT5e

I think that will be cool I will give a try, but before I go to that, after I unplugged the current Antenna, is the new Antenna connector going to be same as the current one or do I need to adjust the connector? How about the antenna cabling, should it be longer? What will the situation be like when an Access Point has two antennas stick at the back? Do I have to install two external antennas?

If you know other links online you can link me up and that I will be very helpful. Thanks again

I just installed to yagi's with Buffallo routers running DD-WRT to create a bridge for work.. cost a whole lot less than buying Cisco bridges!! But more to the point, there are many different antenna connectors RP-TNC, SMC, yada yada. This site will help out some...
