conflict with secondary hard drive

Tried to install a DVD burner to my system, it didn't like it, basically crashed the whole system and i had to remove the DVD burner and re install the CD burner. The system then booted up ok. What ever i did seems to have created a conflict with my secondary hard drive, giving me a regular intermitant problem where i can not access the E drive. I get a warning as follows :

"Windows delayed write failure. Windows was unable to save all data for the file E:\stashIMAPI.bin the data has been lost"

There is actually no lost data. To access the E drive, i have to reboot then all files in E drive are available. But shortly after, i get this warmnng again and can not access the E drive files.

Any idas on how to fix this ???
