Thanks to all the wonderful people here I have had my computer running wonderfully. I am confused however as to why when I switched to Mozilla Firefox and had a great relationship until recently. I have running AVG 2013, Super Anti Spyware, Smart Defrag 2, CCleaner latest version, IOBIT 6, Open Office 3.3 even though 3.2 says it is on there. Now mind you that this is on a E-machine T3612 which is a couple of years old but with regular cleaning and diligence it gets the job done but I am getting tired of "Firefox Not Responding", "Script has stopped" and "Too many 16 bit components running" messages. I wish I were smarter about this but that is why I appeal to you wise people.

What is your Windows version? How much memory do you have?

I am wondering about "Too many 16 bit components running" - is that also coming from Firefox?

Hi my friend , is this your computer ?

Maybe the reason of this situation is that because all of the programmes is running simultaneously , you must go to

Strart - Run msconfig - Ok

at the start up tab you can remove all ticks except for antivrus
Appy - Ok ensuring your movement

windows is asking you about restart - go for it :wave

I also get message about script stopping in Firefox, especially (only) when running IE. I get the option to stop the script or continue. I always choose to stop, which doesn't seem to any harm, but it's annoying. The offending scripts aren't the same every time.

I've never had the 'too many 26 bit components running' message though.

Thank you for your reply and yes the stop script thing usually just takes a , naturally the stop script button, I was just wondering that since I have all these great protection systems and updaters why are these things still happening. Is there a time when your computer is just too old , do I have too many safety gadgets on it, or am I using IOBIT 6 wrong. Also if you have information on how I can find how much memory that I have I would appreciate that because AVG is sending me a message that Mozzilla Firefox is using too much. Thank You.

"The System Configuration utility helps you find problems with your Windows XP configuration. It does not manage the programs that run when Windows starts.

For more information about disabling or permanently removing the programs that run when Windows starts, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270035"

    • msconfig will not list applications loaded in all possible startup locations
    • It will usualy break any uninstall of an item disabled with it

Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services (services.msc) is the preferred way...

Thank you but a lot of people use this movement instead of using

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Standard_d5125.html

to speed up our time on boot , i think :wave

Yes, I've used CCleaner myself. My point was that msconfig is a troubleshooting tool in the main, not a good option for configuring startup items...
