connect old pc wirelessly

    Hi,
    i have got a new pc connected by ethernet cable to a new bigpond router. I also have an old pc that a want to connect wirelessly. I bought a realtek wireless usb 2.0 adaptor and it worked for about a week. what should I use so as this old pc can connect? Thanks.:cry

    I gather that you had wireless connectivity with the Realtec adapter for about a week and the it ceased connecting.
    * What Operating System are you using?
    * Is the Bigpond modem/router a Netgear?
    * Have you checked all the settings for the connection - SSID, Encryption key and the type of encryption, WEP, WAP, WAP2, etc?
    * Is wireless access control enabled in the router and if so is the MAC address of the PC added to the list.
    * If you go to Device Manager (Windows key + R to bring up the Run box, and enter devmgmt.msc) are there any Question marks indicating some sort of error?
    * If you plug a flash drive into the same USB port that the Realtec adapter is using, does Windows detect it?
    * Is there anything relevant to the connection error listed in the Event Viewer? (Windows key + R, enter eventvwr.msc)

    That's all I can think of for now, let me know how you get on. :)
