I have recently had a malware attack on my computer. I have been getting help on the malware forum but unfortunately the guy who was helping me has gone on holiday (how selfish!).

Anyway the problem is that my wireless adapter claims to be connected to the network but I cannot access the internet or even the router controls. I think the majority of the malware is removed but still cannot access, I can see that packets are being sent and recieved also. I have tried winsockfix and lspfix and reseting my tcp/ip stack none of which have worked.

This is really frustrating and I will have to format my drive and reinstall XP which I don't want to do.

    Please help!

Chaslang works countless hours daily for almost no compensation. Everyone here volunteers, so I truly hope your selfish comment was a poor attempt at a joke, if so, you might try a smiley next time so your not misunderstood :)

Try to bypass your router and connect directly. Reset your router to factory defaults. I had a guy email me yesterday with the same problem, his router was 5 or 6 years old, he replaced the router and that fixed his problem.

Sincere apologies, that was a joke. The fact he has helped me so much already shows he is not selfish and I would definitely not begrudge anyone a holiday. I suppose a smiley would have helped but i'm not a fan of them.

I will try bypassing the router and get back to you although other my computer is not the only one using the router and the others can access the internet without problems.

Thanks for your help and apologies again, this is a an excellent, extremely useful site that has helped me out on several occasions, great job.

id wait until you get more help figuring out your malware issue. that could be the cause of your problems, and digging in making changes to stuff that doesnt need to be changed could mess up more stuff.

if other computers are on the router and theyre accessing resources fine, its not your router.
