I recently changed my cable service to Internet and Phone only. Since I didn't pay for a WIFI signal, my home weather station no longer receives data. I downloaded and installed Connectify Hotspot but was still unable to make a connection. Does anyone know of a way to connect free WIFI to a home PC and a home weather station that requires a WIFI signal?

If you don't have WiFi how is your computer accessing the internet at present?

The desktop computer does through a cable. What I don't have is Whole-Home WIFI, so other devices, such as a weather station, a laptop or any other device that needs a WIFI signal, can connect.

Then, if you do not have one at present, you need a wireless router connected between your modem and PC. It is the router that generates the WiFi signal, not your ISP. If a single router signal cannot reach all of your property you may need to get more devices to extend the signal.

Thanks for the suggestion. My neighbor came over yesterday with his Smart phone and attempted to connect the weather station to a WIFI signal; this is how I initially connected the weather station to a WIFI signal . Unfortunately, we encountered a problem signing into an existing account as I had forgotten the password. Attempts to change the password were unsuccessful. It was only after he left that, upon checking my Email, I discovered the ability to change my password required the additional step of responding to a link in an Email. My neighbor will return at a later date now that we know this. I feel confident that we will then be able to connect the weather station to a WIFI signal.

Whose WiFi signal, your neighbour's phone? You need your own WiFi, as I described, or you could connect via your phone but that might produce charges.

According to my Internet company (WOW!) there is a WIFI signal. And indeed, my neighbor was able to connect.

Took a while but we finally decided to follow the instruction book and not our instincts and now the weather station is up and running. Word to the wise --- follow the instructions.
