Connecting ext. monitor(CRT) to Laptop? Does anyone know if this is doable?

I have an older IBM Thinkpad (600E) with win xp pro installed. The LCD is in poor cond. So, I hooked up an external monitor (CRT) and don't know how to get it to work?
    Any help is much appreciated.....

    Thanks,
    Galihad

laptops traditionally have a function key (Fn) and one of the F buttons (F9 or F10 or something) will put the display on another screen... so try the function key and any button that looks like it has a monitor on it

Sometimes it requires a reboot to allow XP to see there is an external monitor. Same as using an overhead projector.

Should be as easy as hitting a button. I don't have a "stinkpad" but mine shows on the projector and the laptop screen until the laptop screen times out.

I have an old old old compaq running Mandrake with a busted screen. always used it with a monitor....

Check out your BIOS when you bootup. My Gateway has the option of simultaneous LCD and external monitor running. Let us know. Bazza
