Connecting laptop to my router

    just got my daughter a new laptop but when i try to connect it wirelessly to my router iam getting the e-system setup is asking for the 'security key' or 'passphrase' in order to complete the wireless connection , i have forgotten this , so is there anyway i can retrieve it , tried to reset the the buffalo G54S router but no joy , anybody any ideas , thanks

    Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset button down for 10- 15 seconds with power on.

    then wait about 30 sec to access configration....;)

    thanks for your speedy replys, i just reset the router and it was sorted , i have another slight problem now my connection will die for a few seconds and then either come right back, or come back when i right click the network icon next to the clock and re-connect to my network , is there something i should be doing to make the signal stable , my 2 other desktop pc's are fine via the router , thanks

    Hi

    Check to make sure power saving is not enabled for the network connection. Not sure what version of Windows you are using, but it will be located in the Control Panel's power options (you may have to dig into the advanced options to find the network power options).

    OS is vista home premium , tried that but cant see anything about network connection :confused

    Alright, try this:

    Go to Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, and under Power Options, click Change power-saving settings.

    Under the plan selected, choose "Change plan settings". In the next screen, choose "Change advanced power settings".

    In the window that pops up, find "Wireless adapter settings", expand that and Power Saving Mode under it, and choose Maximum Performance.
