Connecting PC to LCD - which camera for Skype calls?

    This is the problem:

I need to set up camera that will be used by Skype installed on PC and that would display picture/video on LCD TV.
So... PC (at one end of office) is connected to LCD (at opposite end of that office) via HDMI cable. At the center of office is table for conference call participants. If I put camera by the PC, it would display participants' back (they are looking at TV)....so I need to install camera at the other end of the office, by the LCD TV.

I need an advice now. Which type of camera to use? I suppose that regular webcam is out of question (or it is not)... so I have option to use some wireless or IP cam, which are significantly expensive. I dont want to spend money on wrong camera, so that is why I ask you for advice. Maybe you have some other, better solution...

    Thanks.

I would try a higher resolution (at least 1.3 megapixels or higher) USB camera. The higher the resolution, the less grainy people far away from the camera will appear:

With USB 2.0, you can run up to 15 feet (5 meters) with a standard USB extension cord. If it's right at or more than 15 feet, get an "active" USB extension cable like this:

I don't know who the major retailers in Europe are; however, these are common items you should be able to find on any major PC website.

    Hope this helps. :)

The length of cable that I would need is about 15 meters. I thought that I couldn't use 15m of usb cable.. but I didn't know about this active extension cable...
So in this case, I could use standard webcam. Only thing I should pay attention to is to choose one with high resolution.

What about audio? Do you think that mic that is integrated within webcam would be suitable or should I consider plugging in additional microphone in PC? (Distance between participants and webcam would be 3-4 meters.)

I would try the built in mic. first and see how it goes.

Can someone tell me, can every IP camera be used for Skype?
